Steady Steps is a new community-based health referral programme run by Edinburgh Leisure in partnership with NHS Lothian. The programme targets older people who have had or are at risk of having a fall. The programme runs for 16 weeks with one session each week. Sessions are delivered in community settings in Edinburgh, such as local leisure centres and community centres and are based on the FaME and Otago exercises as well as allowing time for a chat over tea and coffee after each physical activity session.
We are looking for qualified REPs Level 4 Postural Stability Instructors to help take this exciting project forward and to deliver sessions at a variety of venues throughout Edinburgh. Instructors will deliver physical activity sessions to adults aged 65+ who are at risk of falling, therefore an eagerness to work with groups of older people with a range abilities is essential. Sessions will last no longer than 2 hours, including set-up and set-down time, physical activity, social facilitation and time to complete any necessary paperwork. PSIs will be paid at a rate of £40 per session.
If you are keen to be a part of this exciting project, please contact Ashleigh Corry on 0131 458 2100 or email her on ashleighcorry@edinburghleisure.co.uk for more information.
