Otago Leader training is designed for appropriately trained exercise professionals to lead Otago in the community with fidelity (as the research intended). A L2 Fitness Instructor Qualification is one of the required minimum pre-requisites.
LLT have two offers for OEP Leader training:
The OEP Leader (group exercise) course format is most appropriate for exercise professionals who have links with health referrers and partners:
- Health professionals of NHS therapy teams delivering group exercise i.e, physiotherapists, therapy support workers and individuals who have exercise delivery as part of their work remit within a physiotherapy led team
- Qualified Exercise Instructors (Level 2 or above)
- Postural Stability Instructors interested in updating their CPD or in a supervisory role with OEP Leaders
The following professions/roles may be eligible if they hold the Chair-Based Exercise Leaders certificate, or an equivalent Level 2 exercise qualification:
- Nurses
- Social care workers
- Care Staff
- Scheme Managers
The following professions/roles are unlikely to be eligible unless there is support/a clear pathway in place/locally agreed process to identify suitability for standing balance exercises
- Social care workers
- Care Staff
- Scheme Managers

Our OEP (NHS) course format is appropriate for:
- Health professionals of NHS therapy teams, physiotherapists, therapy support workers working in one-to-one settings/at home i.e., individuals who have exercise delivery as part of their work remit within a physiotherapy led team.
