Dawn Skelton, founding Director of LLT, has had a great year. Just like buses, the accolades came in 3 😉
At the end of 2015 she received an Honorary Medical Doctorate from Umea University in Sweden for her work in functional exercise for older people.
In October 2016 she received an Honorary Fellowship from the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy for her work in education of physiotherapists and her falls prevention research.
Finally in December 2016 she received a Fellowship from the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh for her work in frailer older people. What a year! She reckons with a few vowels she could play scrabble with the letters she can now put after her name (Dawn Skelton BSc PhD MD h.c. Hon FCSP FRCP Edin). Joking aside, she feels very proud of these honours and pledges to continue her work to ensure older people have effective and safe opportunities for exercise and physical activity.
